By Emily – Bailey’s friend, colleague and fellow home-lover

how to remove pet hairFluffy pets – cute but completely impractical! Image pinned by Loriana.

We all know that a pet can help to make a house a home, but it’s also true that that pet in turn can leave that home looking rather, well, hairy. It can be frustrating when your fluffy friend leaves fur all over your upholstery – but luckily there are several simple solutions and quite a few tools on the market that are designed to make cleaning up after Fido so much easier.

Bailey’s Favourite… Hallway Storage Ideas

By Bailey

hallway ideasMake life easier with a well organised, stylish hallway. Pinned by The How-To Home from House To Home .

Hallways are the last thing you see when dashing out the door and the first part of your home to welcome you back after a long day. Yet, saying all this, their design and decoration tend to get overlooked by many homeowners.

Your hallway should do three things. 1) Give you a warm welcome home after a long day. 2) Present your home to visiting guests. 3) Play host to all of your must-grab essentials when heading outdoors – keys, phone, purse/wallet, iPod, sunglasses, shoes, coat, brolly, handbag, school bag, dog lead, torch, change for the ice cream van… you get the gist.

BUT you gotta store all these staples in the right way – otherwise they’ll just get in your way and what should be a swift exit feels like you’re wading your way through coats upon coats en route to Narnia.

Here are my top favourite hallway storage ideas that will make entering and exiting your home a daily delight…

Mexican Food: How-To Make Chilli

By Emily – Bailey’s friend, colleague and fellow home-lover

Mexican food - how to make chilliThis recipe includes dark chocolate! Pinned by Kiki Newell from BBC GoodFood

Seeing Morven’s amazing guacamole recipe last week got me craving Mexican food, so I decided to rustle up a chilli last night.  I’ve experimented with this chilli A LOT and this is definitely the best incarnation. I can’t take credit for the spiced butter – that’s Heston’s invention!  As for the turkey, I used it to replace the beef whilst I was on a diet (it’s a much leaner meat) and discovered that it soaks up all those spices much better than the beef ever did.

This recipe also includes dark chocolate – making it a tasty way to use up some of your Easter eggs acquired over the weekend…

News: Happy Easter!

By Bailey

Easter Ideas

Mama Bailey has excelled herself this year

IT’S EASTER! I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love the long Easter weekend, catching up with the ones you love and eating VERY well. (Diet today so far has entailed 15 x mini Lindt gold bunnies, some fizz and a sausage roll – now that’s style).

Rather than drone onto you about why I love Easter – Mama Bailey, Bez Bailey (my big sis) and I decided to take some pictures of our Easter crafts/decorations that really give the home an Eastery feeling. Top prize goes to Mama Bailey, who gave us beautiful wooden bowls with yellow feathers, Lindt bunnies, Easter chicks, chocolate hens from France and a speckly hen pencil. Amazing.

Happy Easter everyone…

How-To: Grow Lettuce

By Bailey

how to grow lettuceSummer salads taste better with homegrown lettuce.

I’m lucky to have a balcony outside my kitchen – it’s ideal for growing all those handy cooking staples. Herbs go without saying – however my pot of lettuce proved the most beneficial last summer. Lettuce is the little black dress of vegetables – it goes with everything. Healthy and packed with fresh flavour when picked straight from the soil, it’ll save you many a penny during the sunny months.

I grow cut-and-come-again lettuce, which does exactly what it says on the packet. You pick the outer leaves to eat, which allows new leaves to grow up the centre. It’s like you have your very own boomerang salad – designed to give you no excuse but to eat healthily.

Here are my top tips to growing luscious lettuce in just one pot…
