Trend Tracker: Cartography

By Bailey

Is it me, or are there millions more map-inspired decorations for the home than there were three years ago?

Who you are is largely based on where you come from and where you’ve been in life. Which is why I really like this trend as I’m all about making sure you decorate your home in a way that represents you.

I am certainly an ambassador of this trend. A little while ago, I stumbled across a vintage map of Sussex at an Antiques Fair. Bought for a small price, I had it professionally framed and it now hangs in my office/craft room. I don’t usually get pictures professionally framed but as Sussex is where I’m from, this map was close to my heart, so I gave it the VIP treatment. (You can see it in my How-To: Add the Personal Touch post).

Something I’ve spotted recently in shops, are maps cut into a heart shape and framed, like these ones…

How-To: Make a Starry Jam Tart

By Bailey

Every time I go home for Christmas, I find myself spending 90% of my time in the kitchen. Whether I’m devouring bowls upon bowls of Mama Bailey’s nibbles and dip or donning a festive apron and cooking/baking to my heart’s content – the kitchen is the epicentre of festive treats, compilation CDs and catch ups.

How-To: Decorate a Christmas Tree

By Bailey

Tree decoration: Hickory Dickory

This How-To is more about how I decorated my Christmas tree, rather than how you should – simply because I feel that there is no right or wrong way. Your Christmas tree is personal to you, so should reflect you. If that means it’s completely mismatch, then great! Of course, stylish, colour-coordinated trees look good (i.e. ones found in Selfridges, Liberty London…) but you need to make sure you and your flat mates/boyfriend/hubby/family love it. That’s all that matters.

Here’s some of my tree decorating tips I’ve learnt along the way. I’ve also included some pics of my favourite tree decorations to give you some festive inspiration. Enjoy! And happy December everyone…
