Guides are researched and written to a consistent editorial standard: a direct answer first, the practical steps second, and an honest assessment of when the job is beyond DIY. We do not encourage anyone to tackle work that should be handled by a qualified tradesperson — particularly anything involving gas, electrics, structural issues, major leaks, or serious damp.
